Teri Baatein, released on 24, November 2023 - it may be just another song in the market for you. But for me, it holds a very special and spatial place in my heart. Emptying my heart full of loads of emotions to explore the depth of what it is and putting efforts into explicitly explaining the relationship toxicity and ups and downs, was definitely a challenging process but I did it.
It all started after the release of the preceding song 'Sun Mere Mahiya' and I was all left with my poetry to let the emotions out. Having no one to share my feelings with, YouTube and my music have always been my friends any time. I opened FL Studio and came up with the guitar riff melody that you listen to at the very start. Looping the same melody again and again. I fortunately got into vibing with the track and came up with some random clingy lyrics. I followed my 6th sense and wrote lyrics with the ongoing parallel work on music and came up with something very basic.
I shared this first raw draft with some of my friends and they gave me feedback on it. I appreciated and followed their advice. For the next revision of the song, I needed some time to get back and follow my flashbacks to feel my toxic relationship once again.
I still remember it was last days of our relationship after being together for more than one and a half years, I heard this from her:
"I'm not getting any emotional support from you!"
I've always been very emotional and specifically a person who doesn't like to hold feelings back and this statement left me heartbroken and I lost my feeling of love. I developed myself in such a way that when I was coping with the loss, I later decided, I don't need anyone now.
It's been around a year, I'm out of my relationship and I've not looked at anyone with "that kind of eyes". People may not flaunt/flex about it but now I am a different reborn and changed my character in such a way, now no one has the tendency to understand me.
Reminding me of these things any more that I'm not very comfortable putting online, I got myself back to that 'relationship wala phase' and immediately opened the session to continue my work on the song, and within a few hours, my song was ready!
I decided to put the song out on YouTube and it got a good amount of eyes for it. Thankful to all of you. Grateful to all of you. Because you're the only one supporting me this long, and to my responsibility, I can ensure I'll never sit back. Cheers!
